Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Specs, Features, BTS Promo Photos, and Availability in the Philippines

Last night - September 23, 2020 - at around 10 in the evening, I joined Samsung Philippines' local virtual Unpacked event on Facebook where the company officially unveiled the all-new Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is essentially a Lite version of their 2020 Samsung Galaxy S20 flagship release, having the same powerhouse processor (for the S20 version released in US and Europe) but donning a more accessible price tag along with a more youthful vibe.
This handset model is also the first to be outright promoted by Korean boy band BTS, hot on the heels of their massively successful "Dynamite" song that recently hit the #1 position in United States' Billboard Hot 100 hit chart, a history-making feat for a South Korean track.
I think all the members of BTS are truly ideal endorsers for the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE not just because they are Korean - just like Samsung as a company - but because they are Millennials and Gen-Zers for whom this smartphone release is specifically crafted for.
I mean, the bright and vibrant colors of the handset themselves - namely, Cloud Navy, Cloud Red, Cloud Mint, Cloud Lavender, Cloud White, and Cloud Orange - reflect the fact that Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is made for the young, the passionate, and the bold.
Sporting a large 6.5-inch FullHD+ SuperAMOLED display with ultra-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is great for enjoying online content regardless of the niche that its young or young-at-heart owner is into.
If you love taking photos of the things you are passionate about and instantly sharing them on social media, then you should find Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition's Triple Rear Camera module very useful. This set-up is made up of a 12MegaPixel main camera with wide f/1.8 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization that's great for everyday point and shoot photography, a 12 MegaPixel Ultra-Wide secondary camera that captures more of the scene in front of you without you having to move several steps back, and an 8 MegaPixel Telephoto camera that enables 3X optical zoom so you can snap images up-close without having to move physically closer to them.
In front, housed in a small punch hole near the top of the beautiful display, there's a ultra-high-resolution 32 MegaPixel camera that you can use for snapping selfies or groufies with your friends and loved ones. You may use it to record 4K videos for your vlog or Youtube Channel.
Amazingly, just like the more expensive Samsung Galaxy S20 flagship, S20 FE's main camera at the back can shoot 8K videos which is great for those who want to future-proof their video recordings. But if you are not keen on editing super large files, you may also shoot in 4K or FullHD 1080p.
Under the hood, Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition runs its One UI 2.5 customized Android 10 operating system with the beastly 7nm+ Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor that's complemented by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If you need more space, you can easily install a microSD card slot through the hybrid secondary nanoSIM card that can also take it in.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is powered by a large 4,500 mAh Li-Po Battery that ensures a whole a day of uptime with regular use. This pack also supports 15W fast charging so you can spend less time plugging your handset to an electrical outlet and more time using it to celebrate your passions in life.
Made to work well with Samsung's stellar accessories for the Galaxy handset line which include ear buds and smartwatches, Samsung Galaxy S20 FE also comes with 4.5W wireless charging so you can just put the gadgets on top of to commence charging.
According to Samsung, one of the highlights of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is its frosted glass finish which makes all the available colors of the handset look more visually pleasing. Apparently, it took the company many tests and trials to come up with the exact misty look that's most attractived for all the hues.
Interested? Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is slated for release in the Philippines sometime in October 2020. No exact date yet. Likewise, the company has yet to disclose its official local SRP. Nonetheless, in the US, this model dons a price tag of $699 of around PHP 34,000 for the sub-6GHz 5G version, which is not bad given its specs.
If Samsung Philippines will price Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G version for less than PHP 35,000, I think it can be massively successful among young professionals and college students who want to jump on the 5G bandwagon while sticking to a brand they already trust. Then again, Samsung also has fierce rivals in the Philippine market and I'm sure they won't take that sitting down. I'm expecting an all-out battle among top brands in the upper midrange echelon as we approach this year's Yuletide Season.
