Aside from the budget-friendly Honor 7A Android smartphone, Honor Philippines also officially launched an even more affordable handset in the media event the company held last Thursday - July 5, 2018.
Donning an official suggested retail price of just PHP 5,490, the Honor 7S looks a lot like its pricier sibling it comes with slightly less powerful technical specifications.
Despite that, however, this model should still be a great option for entry-level consumers, including students and young professionals who are still working towards financial freedom.
In terms of design and build, Honor 7S flaunts a real metal mid-frame that's sandwiched by the glass face - protecting the 5.45-inch HD+ 18:9 IPS display - and a back plate made of plastic. The overall footprint is reminiscent of the Apple iPhone 6 or 6S albeit the materials used on the Honor 7S aren't as luxurious.
As for imaging capabilities, this model has a 13 MegaPixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash that's complemented by a 5 MegaPixel front cam for selfies, which is powered by Honor's own Beautification software.
Inside, Honor 7S runs its EMUI 8.0 skinned Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with a Mediatek MT6739 processor, which incorporates four ARM Cortex A53 cores and a PowerVR GE8100 graphics chip. The device handles multitasking with 2GB of RAM and has 16GB of internal storage that the user can beef up using the dedicated microSD card slot; Yup, no need to sacrifice the phone's Dual SIM Dual Standby capability just to get more space for your large files.
Needless to say, this model is by no means a powerhouse when it comes to internal hardware -- but given its very affordable price, I think its specs are actually pretty decent. No complaints here.
If you ask me, I think the main highlight of this model - apart from its tall screen - would have to be its 3,020 mAh battery, which is notably big for a smartphone with a 5.45-inch display and Quad Core processor. According to Honor, this pack should give Honor 7S around a whole day of uptime with regular use coming from a full charge.
4G-enabled Honor 7S is now available at the brand's official online store partner, Shopee, and - I believe - it should eventually be out via Honor's new brick-and-mortar distribution outlets in malls nationwide.
